Family ties are strong, and friendship and neighbourhood networks are well developed. Great value is placed on hospitality, and the gifts of storytelling.  Activities include strolling on town promenades known as ‘Korza’.  Popular meeting places are traditional coffeehouses and cafes. Bosnian cuisine is a matter of pride with the popular  national dish of Cevapi- small skinless sausages that are grilled and served in a bread pocket. Also popular are pita (handmade stretched dough with various fillings) and mouthwatering deserts readily available at the many ‘Slasticarne” cafes.

Bosnians have a passion for football (soccer) with the country fielding dozens of professional teams. Also popular are basketball, volleyball, chess, karate, handball and winter sports like skiing.  Bosnia has produced many european and world sporting champions.
